I too could have been a butterfly

For http://www.octpowrimo.com/2014/10/breaking-out-of-box.html challenge Day 1

As I lay in the dustbin
filled with blood and the umbilical cord
that joined us mother,
I thought what was my fault?
I could have grown into a butterfly one day
that too a beautiful one;
they said I was a girl child
so they uprooted me
saying you didn't want me
neither did Paa.

Don't know how much of it is true

I can hear the dogs bark nearby now
some pulling on to the cord
some snatching on to my arm
as
I feel a strange pain,
Am I still alive mother
or
am I dead.

The Octpowrimo starts again. A whole new month dedicated to poetry. A part of of me still the same..a part of me different.

Even if she stays alive, she'd not feel so. Sad poem, but then again, when the decision the parents have taken is so sad, the poem was bound to be. Well written!
